Visit Finland (Finnish Tourist Board) reorganizes its net of representatives in China and Japan.
From the beginning of January 2010 Visit Finland starts co-operation in Japan and three Chinese cities with independent representatives. According to the Finnish national tourism strategy Visit Finland will put more effort on global image campaigns of Finland which are coordinated mainly by the Helsinki head office. At the same time the newly opened country portal www.visitfinland.com takes an even more important role as the main marketing tool of Visit Finland. Development work and maintenance of these sites are also taken care of in Helsinki.
Since the planning and realization of big campaigns promoting Finland do not need local personnel to the same extent as earlier Visit Finland reorganizes its net of representatives and invokes independent persons or companies in China and Japan instead. All new local representatives have deep insight into the Finnish tourism offering and they have been co-operating for many years with Visit Finland. The main duties of the representatives will be coordination of pr-work and media visits, maintenance of contacts with travel trade and organization of marketing events together with the representatives of the Finnish travel industry.
In 2010 Visit Finland organizes travel trade workshops in China (Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai) during the first week of May and in Japan in October – November in Hirameki Finnish Design event in Tokyo. Additionally Visit Finland invites representatives of Chinese and Japanese media to Finland and organizes educational tours to Finland for tour operators.
