Product Groups 2009-2013

Finnish Tourist Board has chosen some main product groups when promoting Finland as a tourist country. Situated in the heart of Northern Europe, Finland is an ideal destination for international meetings, conferences and incentives. Finland Convention Bureau is a national convention bureau with around 90 members advising you on anything and everything to do with your event!

1. SUMMER ACTIVITIES, main product groups

  • water related products/cruises: Baltic Sea and inland water cruises
  • cycling
  • hiking and nordic walking
  • wildlife
  • horse/equine

Emphasis: water related products → inland water cruises to be developed
2. WINTER ACTIVITIES, main product groups
Snow holidays
  • Winter activities: cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, dog sledding, reindeer rides
  • Unique experiences: interesting nature and culture (e.g. stories and tales, the Northern lights, the Sami culture), strong traditions and history
  • Christmas and other special winter events: Christmas trips/ Santa Claus, New Year, Epiphany, Easter and other special winter events and festivities

  • healthy, locally produced food with information of origin

  • paying attention to the special needs of elderly and/or handicapped person

3.3.2) Health & Fitness
    Characteristics:
  • light activities (e.g. Nordic Walking, hiking, walking, snow shoeing, skiing, golf, swimming, winter swimming) ; the difference to active holidays is that the main motivation lies in taking care of one's wellbeing and fitness
  • qualified and professional trainers, fitness and other tests, personal training
  • massage and other restoring treatments
  • using Finnish wellbeing related technology, instructions for use

3.3.3) Pampering
    Characteristics:
  • high standard operating environment (accommodation, pool and relaxation areas, treatment rooms etc.)
  • special focus on delicious (gourmet) food
  • high standard, personal service is emphasized
  • additional attractions such as culture programmes, shopping etc.
  • "passive" holiday; indulging in treatments/service performed by others / not being active yourself
